When the client's home was destroyed in a fire, they lost virtually everything, except for a small bust of a woman. Taking the sculpture as an affirmation of life, the clients built a new home on the existing site. When the house was nearly finished, they commissioned Senior Designer, Lori Berg to help them complete their home. The couple explained that they wanted the space to be calm, comfortable, functional, and durable enough for everyday use. As the wife enjoys taking painting classes and the husband is her biggest fan, they wanted the room to serve as a gallery for her paintings, as well as their new collection of art.
Guided by the taupe brick fireplace and the cement mantelpiece, Lori selected an earthy, neutral palette, including pale grasscloth and a hand-knotted rug to complement the soft green-gray walls and dark walnut flooring. To optimize the room’s functionality by creating spaces for entertaining, watching TV, and reading the paper, Lori selected a pair of sculptural sofas upholstered in nubby tweed, a graceful coffee table, a pair of comfortable armchairs upholstered in luxurious cut velvet, and a matching ottoman large enough for two pairs of feet. Taking inspiration from one of the wife’s paintings, Lori helped the clients select a variety of paintings in the same color family. To contrast with the bright colors and guide the eye to the art, they added pillows and a cozy throw in bright citrine.
"I collaborate with the client to portray the personal taste and traditions of the individuals living in the home. A successful interior is beautiful, functional and inviting. It should look and feel like it's always been that way."
Every project is unique, just like the client. Lori creates beautiful, functional, and comfortable environments that reflect their point of view.

Lori was incredible to work with during our renovation from her input during the re-design of the kitchen, living, dining and den area of our home to the details of the floor wood finish color to the accessories. She was able to capture our vision with so many options. Her selections and her ability to weave our theme through all areas of the design, made the process stress free and a joy. When we changed the color of the kitchen cabinets, she was flexible and offered new and beautiful selections. Her attention to detail and her focus to find the perfect fit was exceptional . From kitchen design to the furniture selections, she made what could be a stressful process a lot of fun. She transformed our living spaces into our dream home. Thank you, Lori, we could not be happier!
Another absolutely flawless home transformation with Lori Berg in the books! I first worked with Lori 7 years ago to help transform my own home. I loved working her so much that I recommended her to my Mom when my parents decided to do a complete overhaul of their Parkwood Knolls rambler. Lori took on so much with this project and with a big smile to boot. She was an integral part of the remodel before it even started and led us on key decisions regarding cabinetry, floors, hardware, lighting etc. Lori's expertise in design really shined through when she led us through the decorating process. Lori weaved a beautiful story through the home with a shared theme from room to room while giving each room their own character. No task is too small or large for Lori. She is a patient perfectionist who doesn't settle on "good" or "great" - she goes above and beyond to make sure selections are extraordinary. Lori's ability to balance design, quality, budget needs, and function gave us the perfect home for our family's needs. Lori is a joy to work with and has become a friend of our family's through the process!
